Carters Hike 11/10/07

Started up the South branch of the Imp Trail and then continued on the North Carter Trail to the Carter-Moriah Trail. No snow to start the hike, but I am guessing the snow started around 3000 feet and there was several inches by the time we reached the Carter-Moriah Trail. We continued south on the Carter Moriah Trail over Middle Carter, South Carter, Mt. Hight, Carter Dome and down to the Carter Notch Hut. Great views of Mt Washington and the presidential range. There was small breeze in the exposed areas around Middle Carter and on Mt Hight. Then we continued down the Nineteen Mile Brook trail in the dark with headlamps to the parking lot. Stabilizers would have useful on some areas. The lower section of Carter-Moriah trail from Carter Dome Summit to the Hut was icy. Also the upper part of the nineteen mile brook trail was icy. A couple of blowdowns on the North Carter. All in all, a great day for a hike! 13.5 miles; 4500+ feet elevation gain.
